Peter Facinelli on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday

When Peter Facinelli wasn’t dazzling Jimmy Kimmel with tales of his Italian heritage on his talk show, he was dazzling “Twilight” fans with some behind-the-scenes footage he shot while making “Eclipse.” In it, Facinelli is seen running on treadmills for the forest scenes in the film. How did he manage to get that footage? Well, he attached his phone to the truck that was attached to the treadmill.

“I have a bootleg copy of me doing my stunts. You don’t want to do this at home for sure,” he told Kimmel, who had spoken with Nikki Reed only the night before. “We were kind of strapped in, but if you fell forward it would be ugly. You couldn’t go anywhere ’cause you were kind of buckled in, but if I fell my face would hit the mat. They had us do that over and over and over. They need me for the next movie [so I don't think they're trying to kill me].”

Facinelli may have built up a tolerance to tough situations thanks to his dad, who made the “Twilight” star work on vacations when he was a kid. “We had this cabin in upstate New York and that was our summer getaway and it was like work camp,” he recalled. “We’d go up there and he’d put me to work, so it was never fun.”

An equally unfun memory from his childhood was the way his dad tried to get him to play the accordion. “My parents are from Italy originally,” he said. “My dad tried to make me play the accordion. He plays the accordion. It was big and there’s easier instruments to play. My dad carries that thing around to every party and I was the monkey. He doesn’t play that well. Sorry, dad. It’s a beast of an instrument and he only plays polka music.”

As far as men’s style goes, it’s hard to vary too much from the classic dark suit. But at Thursday night’s (June 24) premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Robert Pattinson tried his best. The dreamboat vampire walked the black carpet in a maroon Gucci suit, while his werewolf rival Taylor Lautner played it safe in a classic black suit/ skinny tie combo.

Among the ladies, muted colors and embellishments reigned supreme. Human star Kristen Stewart chose a white, one-sleeve Elie Saab minidress with a fierce cutout back. Her bestie, Dakota Fanning, also wore Elie Saab, though the Volturi guard went much more feminine in a short, flirty, nude-colored look with lace and feather accents. Fellow evil vampire Bryce Dallas Howard also went lacy in her long, mustard Dior frock, which was a rare spot of color amid a sea of neutrals. Also in the neutral camp was Ashley Greene, looking gorgeous in a light-blue column dress by Alexis Mabille Couture.

Several castmembers wore Marchesa: Nikki Reed’s feathered number looked a tad Ice Capades chic (though she brought the ultimate accessory — her adorable little brother), while new wolf pack member Julia Jones shined in a silver, beaded strapless dress.

A couple of Cullen men looked dapper with their “90210″ star significant others. Kellan Lutz echoed Taylor with a simple black suit and skinny tie, while girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord opted for a form-fitting champagne Nicole Miller and neutral makeup. Fellow Cullen clan member Peter Facinelli also donned a black pinstripe suit, which complemented wife Jennie Garth’s metallic Marchesa and bright lipstick.

Metallics also seemed to be a hit, with Catalina Sandino Moreno in a belted, big-shouldered gunmetal-gray dress and Anna Kendrick in a ruffled olive frock. The boys weren’t immune to the metallic trend either, with wolf pack member Alex Meraz donning a light-blue pinstripe suit.

Last fall, at the glittering red-carpet premiere of “New Moon” in Los Angeles, Kristen Stewart gushed about her brother/sister relationship with Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson revealed the worst part about being Robert Pattinson, and Dakota Fanning admitted she’d probably feed on another human being if he or she smelled like orange chicken from Panda Express.

What are we going to learn from the “Twilight” kids this year at the premiere of “Eclipse”? Well, no one knows what will be on their minds as they make their way down the carpet, but we promise you’ll know the moment it happens. Why? Because we’ll be live-streaming the entire thing right here on MTV.com.

On Thursday at 9:30 p.m. ET, our own Josh Horowitz will be reporting live for two full hours outside the Nokia Theatre, where he’ll be joined by Kimmy West, who runs the fan site His Golden Eyes. They will be chatting with the entire cast, including Stewart, Lautner, Pattinson, Fanning, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Burke and Gil Birmingham. Director David Slade, “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer and series screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will also be stopping by to talk.

Other expected guests include Jamie Foxx, James Franco, Ke$ha, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Emilie de Ravin, Jaden Smith and Emma Roberts.

It’s going to be a crazy night of “Twilight”-y goodness, and you’ll be able to check out the whole thing in real time. And make no mistake: The event is going to be even bigger than last year’s. As Greene told us as she introduced “New Moon” to the world, “People always ask if I’m used to it, but there’s no way to get used to it, because they just keep getting more and more exciting. [The fans] are very passionate, and it keeps getting bigger. It’s incredible.”

We’ll be live at the L.A. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday, June 24. A new “Eclipse” featurette hit the Web on Friday (June 18), and it takes viewers further inside the story and making of the third “Twilight” film than any other previously aired clips. The featurette mixes footage seen in previous trailers and TV spots, along with several new scenes, behind-the-scenes shots and commentary from the film’s stars.

The two-minute featurette opens with familiar scenes of vampire Riley going through the change and assembling a vampire army. Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen), shown in costume, explains why the army is a problem for the Cullens and the wolf pack. Cut to Xavier Samuel (Riley) talking about the dangers of being around newly turned vampires, spliced with scenes of the vampire army in destruction mode, on their way to find Bella.

Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen) describes why the vampires and werewolves must now work together to ward off the approaching army, as well as the complications and politics involved in vampire/werewolf relations.

The second half of the featurette focuses on how the vampires and werewolves undergo training to prepare for battle. There are new scenes here, showing Jasper teaching the vamps and werewolves how to fight, with brief clips of what look to be fun scenes of vampire-on-vampire combat training: the first a relatively intense battle between Jasper and Emmett and the second more playful fighting between Edward and Carlisle.

“There’s a lot of action, and that’s what us guys love,” Kellan Lutz (Emmett) says, followed by several scenes of the climactic battle between the Cullens and the wolf pack vs. the new vampire army.

Many “Twilight” fans are expecting a darker film with more action, but plenty of romance between Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her various supernatural suitors when “Eclipse” hits theaters on June 30. But “Twilight” enthusiasts who haven’t braced themselves for a different experience should consider themselves warned: Leading man Robert Pattinson revealed to MTV News that the threequel absolutely takes a more serious tone.

“I’ve seen a very early cut,” Pattinson said at the . “It’s good. It’s different. It’s really different, like, it’s kind of serious.”

Pattinson clarified that in the case of “Eclipse,” the words “different” and “serious” are good things, especially when it comes to the action sequences. “All the kinds of fight scenes that are in ‘New Moon,’ they’re, like, real fights now [in 'Eclipse'],” he said. “They’re not, like, fantasy things. It’s like a horror film!”

The horror label should come as no surprise considering that “30 Days of Night” director David Slade is responsible for “Eclipse.” And not to mention the fact that Peter Facinelli previously revealed that fans will see the “true vampire-ness” of his Carlisle Cullen and the rest of his fanged family, including the “dark, dangerous side” of Alice (Ashley Greene), as well as “a darker side” of Jasper (Jackson Rathbone). Another big tipoff to the film’s pitch can be found in the “Eclipse” footage we’ve already seen, like the action-packed teaser that premiered during the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.

Having earned a PG-13 rating for “intense sequences of action and violence,” there’s no question that “Eclipse” will differ from previous “Twilight Saga” installments. The only question is, do you trust Pattinson’s declaration that “different” is a good thing?

It was a smooch-filled evening at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night (June 6). First Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart reenacted their onscreen lip-locking onstage — albeit it with a jokey awkwardness. Then Sandra Bullock accepted her Generation Award and ended up swapping spit with presenter Scarlett Johansson.

So the big question backstage at the Gibson Amphitheatre was “Who had the hotter kiss?” The cast of “New Moon” had many answers for us, and they didn’t all agree.

“I got to go Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson,” Peter Facinelli told MTV News. “They’re my people. They’re my family. But that other one was pretty hot too.”

Elizabeth Reaser cast her vote in the other direction. “I’ve never seen Scarlett and Sandra Bullock make out, so I’ll go for the novelty of the hotness, which takes it up a notch,” she said. “That was hot. That was genuinely hot. I didn’t expect it. Those things are usually a little forced, a little weird. And it was sort of genuinely hot.”

Jackson Rathbone concurs. “Hands down, easy — that was Scarlett and Sandra Bullock. That was some sexiness,” he said. “I liked it. You should do it more often!”

Alex Meraz was on the same page as Rathbone, and he had some compelling reasoning behind his viewpoint. “I’m going to have to go with Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson,” Meraz said. “It’s a better kiss. It’s a kiss I would want to be a part of.”

For those keeping track at home, that’s one vote for KStew and RPattz and three for Sandra and Scarlett. And then there’s Anna Kendrick, who couldn’t cast a vote because she was pulled out of her seat not once but twice to attend to her various Movie Awards duties.

“Of course, I’m backstage for both of them,” she confessed. “I didn’t really get an angle on it. So I’ll go home and review each one very carefully and let you know.”

While the third installment is only a month or so out, as one of our dear readers pointed out in a recent Bitch-Back, we haven’t seen nearly as much Twilight “shoved down our throats” for this flick.
So what gives?
We checked in with Deep Twi who ‘fesses the promo kinks are “still being figured out.”
One big appearance on the chopping block? Comic-Con.
Our source says it’s “not likely” Rob, Kristen, or Taylor Lautner will be making the trek down to San Diego again. Considering the super fun geek festival is a month after Eclipse premieres here in the US we assume it’s because the main three will be on their global tour (not to mention Rob will be filming Water for Elephants). But specifics still aren’t locked in.
“Premiere locations besides the world premiere on June 24^th in LA at the Nokia Theater have not been disclosed yet.”
Well duh or we would all have each appearance marked on our Team Edward calendar. Exact dates are being worked out though—so don’t fret international Twi fans, you’ll get a piece of the cast.
Comic-Con is huge though if you ask us. Even if Robsten & Tay can’t go, why not send Ashley Greene or Kellan Lutz? Make those fab babes work for their extra money. We all know they have the fan base to boot! But if you Twilighters want the main cast, you better start campaigning to get their cute butts to SD.
Rest assured though, we’ll keep you posted as we hear whether Robsten will be hitting the MTV Movie Awards as well as what their international schedule will be.
